I'm glad there's hope. I actually love the look of the long leaves and bulb. The blooms are a bonus.

Yep just read a little bit about them so you don't overwater. Amaryllis should typically have a time where the leaves have died off and it sits dormant. I'm surprised you haven't seen that in several years. You must have really kept it from knowing when to rest. (Well, I guess being indoors, it might not have gotten all the cues for going dormant).

Thanks for your suggestions to let it go dry for awhile. I pulled back on watering, put it back in the place it seems to thrive, and I think we're back!

Is that only growing in some kind of pebbles or are the pebbles only covering the top of the soil?

Im just asking since if it is grown in soil, you could give it the additional nutrition that a plant typically gets by growing in soil.

The pebbles are just a pretty top layer.

The flowers are so stunning that yes, I should think about getting another. I even love the look of just the large leaves arcing out of the bulb.

Join the addicts that grow 20-30. I am lucky that can plant inground outdoors and have at least 50. Will be posting pics soon as they're starting to wake up...

Yep I came to learn about them and like them years ago, but depending on where and when I see them, they could be $3-20 per bulb (such as the Christmas bulbs that also come in some vases). So as much as I wanted more, I just waited and got them on clearance, whether from local stores or online websites.

I definitely recommend more than one though! Even buying 2-3 more at regular prices will be Ok, just that when you want more, you will have to check your pocketbook.
