Maybe shade heavy? I think you have too much symmetry. What if you took away one end table and put the tripod light at one end of the sofa/ pull the round table closer to the chair.put one of the matching swing arm lamps on that round table. I would hang those two prints(ones flanking the mirror) , over the remaining end table-3-4 inches above table, 1-2 inches between prints and behind lamp. That way the tripod light on one end would offset the two prints and lamp on the other. the goose neck lamp goes to another room. lower the blind to cover the air conditioner when its not in use. slip cover the chair and get another pillow to add to chair.

I don't think you have too many lamps in terms of number. I hate overhead lighting as well! (Except chandeliers, which I consider to be more for style than function). I do think the tripod lamp by the fireplace, while a nice lamp, has too big of a footprint and is too heavy for your space.

It is not too many lamps. Sorry, I agree with CF about the tripod lamp. I would prefer a lamp closer in style to your table lamps or the lamp next to the chair.

I love lamps but there are so many styles of lighting you can use other than lamps if you aren't feeling easy with all of them and you want to get creative. I like lots of different kinds of lighting in a room. Think of lighting up a feature wall from the bottom or leds behind or below furniture or objects or even a screen. You could also do something cozy in your fireplace when not in use. I use a bank of lit branches to light up a wall behind our couch because I like them too much as a christmas decoration to put them away - I love them.

Though I like ceiling fans that include the option of a light, I, too, prefer lamps for light most of the time.

You do not have too many lamps and I like all you have with the exception of the one in the third pic next to the chair by the window with the AC unit. The brass plated one I had of that kind only took a 40amp bulb yet still delivered light that was a bit too bright and glaring for my taste. I prefer something more like this

which has a shade and an adjustable arm and would also eliminate the need for the magazine basket on the floor.

I realize having drapes slump on the floor is a fad many like; it is not one I particularly care for because it looks sloppy -- as if someone was to lazy to take accurate measurements and/or hang the drapes high enough and/or to hem them to the proper length. I was once given a set of drapes that fit my windows that way and soon found they were fodder for the vac and a chore to clean around so they got hemmed to a length an inch above the floor. Sloppy is a fad that really needs to end.

The print of the chair in the third pic and the color of your drapes work really well together. Unless the fabric of the chair is worn or otherwise in need of repair or replacement, you could forget recovering it and enjoy it as it is unless you just want something new -- then try a new throw pillow before spending money unnecessarily.

I'd probably try turning the two end tables on each side of the sofa ninety degrees since that would make reaching anything on the table (such as eyeglasses or book, etc.) easier to reach than reaching back for it.

Really great lamp next to the fireplace -- fits that place well.
