Thoughts on sectionals with matching ottoman?

We are in the market for a new couch. Our living room is big, and we like the kid-friendly seating space of a sectional. I've attached a pic of the one we are thinking of buying (not this color-- ours will be gray). I've been thinking of getting an ottoman to use as a coffee table for awhile now and the salesman pointed out that this sofa's matching ottoman fits perfectly when pushed against the couch, to give even more comfortable "legs up" seating when watching a movie, etc. I thought that was a great idea. However, I can't decide if i actually like the look of a matching ottoman. We could do a different fabric on it, but I didn't really like any of them. And to be honest, prints on things like that scare me, because I like to be able to freely change out throw pillows, drapes, etc as I get tired of them. What do you think?

I prefer couches and chairs, sectionals are rather confining and do not allow for any variations.

Sorry, also, like you change out your pillows, with chairs and couches, you can change out pieces for less when you wish to change out for a new look or a piece wears.

Hi, I understand why you like the idea of a sectional especially with kids. We have tried the sofa with chairs configuration in our family room too, but now have realized a sectional would work best for our family in regards to the way we use the space and for that added comfort factor. Something to keep in mind is to measure (and re-measure) to make sure the size/scale of the sectional fits well in the space.

And yes, you've got good instincts in trying to find other alternatives to the matching ottoman for the sectional.

-Table with smaller ottomans (tucked underneath when not in use)

- Multiple smaller ottomans (with legs or more open style base and different upholstery)

Or you can opt for a single ottoman with a leather or different fabric (different color and texture for more interest).

Or an ottoman style table (like shown in the 3rd picture, again with a different color/upholstery than the sectional).

Btw, please note: the ottomans shown below will probably be a different size than the one you'll need. These are pics for examples only related to the different options you may have and showing various upholstery types, colors, etc.

My thoughts on matching ottomans? Boring.

Kind of a tight squeeze there; consider one on casters so you easily can push it out of the way.
