Dining room help!

Hi- I just bought my first home and am having the hardest time decorating my main room. My main issue is finding flow from the living room to the dining room. I bought curtains for the dining room that I think are too heavy for the area. I have also gotten a lot of different neutrals in the space and golds. I'm not afraid of color I am just playing it safe because I'm not sure which colors/designs would look best. Thank you for your suggestions! I have been staring at this space for months wondering what it needs!

Curtains are beautiful, your living room needs a better furniture layout, turn the white sofa to where the back is facing the front window separating the dining room from the living room, put the red sofa across from it to where the side of each sofa faces the fire place, move them close enough to have a coffee table in between that you can reach from either sofa, start there

If you do not have a fireplace use your tv cabinet as the guide

It will look better when the walls are not lined with furniture

Paint your front door either white like your trim or black for depth

I think it seems a little dark and cramped. I would pull the curtains back as far as possible, take out two of the chairs and either store or put them somewhere else until needed. Maybe even get two different, open armed chairs if you need them for every day use. I think the wall to the left of the dining area needs something more either in art work or shelves or something.

I think also pull the table and chairs farther away from the window/curtains .

I think the curtains are beautiful and the height of the ceiling is awesome

A mirrored buffet on the left DR wall would be lovely. Or, a 5'x7 wall mirror.

I'll repeat what I said on other post. Hem the curtains, They will hang better and look smoother. They should just kiss the floor. It doesn't appear to be room for any more furniture, but add a mirrored piece on wall opposite the peacock.

Sell one of the sofas and replace with 2 chairs, table and lamp. You have no floor lighting. The coffee table is too small. Bring all furniture in so front legs are on the rug. Add some red accents, pillows etc to calm the red door.

Thank you everyone! I like the idea of the lighter curtains (white with blue print). The peacock picture does have a blue background. I was contemplating moving the current curtains to the large LR window, although I'm not sure if they will work there either. I spent $300 on the curtains and would hate to waste them, but after they were hung I disliked them for that space. I have hunter Douglas solara blinds throughout my home in platinum so all windows have coverings if you think it would look better without the curtains. I live in Alaska and in the summer we have minimal darkness so they are necessary for sleeping! I ordered the DR curtains from West Elm- does anyone know if they have a good return policy? Also, I just purchased the leather sleeper sofa from pier one and would hate to sell it a month later but I see what you are saying about the furniture being crowded. The curtain shag rug is 8.6'x8.6" and after seeing the large gap by the leather couch I ordered a new one 10x8 today. Would the 8x8 look odd under the dining room table? I also have a fireplace room off the kitchen with a pier one chaise sofa, perhaps I could switch one of the couches out from different rooms? The white couch currently in my LR is a large couch and the space is used as a TV area so I love how comfortable and large it is. I have attached more pictures, and I again, I am beyond grateful for your assistance. I also plan on repainting the red door. It came with the home and is very very red!

This is also a close up of the curtains and peacock picture. I hung the black rod higher and wider than the actual window. Rod is replaceable moveable as well. I was trying to tie in the dark in the picture and the chair legs. I also have this mirror from pier one as well as three smaller ones.
