Slippery Elm Tree: what to do with it

Recently my partner picked up a cut up downed slippery elm tree. He does this quite often with permission from the tree owners of course. After getting it home he proceeded to pressure wash the bark off of three of the large rounds, (before knowing what it was) as you can imagine it made a huge slimy mess and coated the entire driveway. Well, now that we know what it is we want to make powder or tinctures or even sell some of the bark to those who would like to buy it. Does anybody have any suggestions on what precise methods are used when harvesting the bark for medical use or whom i can contact or websites i can visit to find out more. Thanks

-Chris
