This was a big surprise!

Hi guys and gals!

A while back I posted that I had purchased 23 bulbs. I ordered from Amaryllis.com, White Flower Farm, and Royal Colors.

So far I have had blooms on Hercules, Sweet Nymph, and Dancing Queen. These were from the first group of bulbs I planted.

Right now I have 2 scapes on First Love, and 2 on Popov. About a week or so after I potted First Love, I noticed that there were 2 offsets growing. I was excited at the if having 2 babies! Well a few days ago, I discovered that what I thought were offsets on my First Love, were something completely different! They both turned out to be small hyacinths! What's truly bizzare is I didn't buy any hyacinths and I know I didn't plant them with that Amaryllis bulbs!

I'm going to post a pic of it here. I would love to here what you all think!

Are your bulbs outside? Did you reuse potting soil? I recognize the pot tag. If you potted the bulb, you would have seen offsets of this size attached to the mother bulb, so either you have squirrels, gremlins or small children playing tricks on you, or these were in the soil/pot that you used!

I think I have a ghost in my house because I never had them outside because it was too cold to keep them outdoors. The soil was brand new! I got this bulb from Amaryllis.com so that might be why you recognize the tag? I'm really excited to see these blooms, as I have never seen this variety blooming in person:)

I recognize the tags...they are from the grower!! That seller just passes them along. Nice they provide a pot tag.

A family member must have thought the Hippeastrum and hyacinth would look pretty together!

I'm very happy with my little surprise! It's like I got the best of both worlds. My favorite spring flower scent and an awesome Amaryllis! I'm truly loving it!
