Do you have any pics yet? Brushed nickel on the cabinet hardware may be a nicer way to tie in the stainless and have a more subtle contrast. You could also do oil rubbed bronze for the kitchen hardware if you do want to continue your theme while adding some warmth through the "patina".

Using black hardware will give you a black and white graphic kitchen look which is handsome if that is what you like. If you use stainless hardware, it is a clean statement and is a quieter solution.. There is no correct answer. It is about the look. You cold also use a colored hardware like a yellow or red, which gives a pop look. You need to define what your look is, fun, graphic, quiet.

The cabinets are currently being installed, so I don't have a picture. Thanks for the advice. Our stair railing will be black metal and barn door hardware will be black so I'm just not sure about adding more black in the kitchen. But didn't know if it would be tacky to switch to something silver for cabinet hardware.
