Yes... you need a tall, vertical mirror for that wall and amount of space.

Or expand the curtain rods to take up the negative space.

Or hang it off centre

A tall potted plant might help and a side chair.

Yes, I say also, turn the mirror vertically and maybe put two candlestick lamps on either side. What's important to consider is what the mirror reflects. I remember learing that years ago. The mirror becomes a photograph, or artwork if you will.. of whatever it reflects, so it's important that it's pleasing to the eye. before I redecorated, I had a large verticle mirror over a chest and it reflected my beautiful staircase. I hope this helps

Try extending your curtain rods like jenjackson suggested and then add sconces on both sides of the mirror. If budget allows then yes, a taller vertical mirror also. Just me two cents. Best of luck, have fun!

Hang the mirror vertically and off center - offset it a few inches to the left. The negative space, called ‘ma’ becomes part of the image. Also expand the curtain rods as mentioned above - they are so close to the edge of the window, you can see the light shine through on the SIDE - light should only come through the middle of the window.

I agree with the suggestions above. But the wall might really come to life with a mirror with an interesting design.

Extend curtain rods and turn mirror vertically. Raise it a bit.

It's really not he mirror that's the problem. It's the size of the furniture piece in that space. You could use a tall hutch there or better yet built in book shelves with drawers and cabinets below. It looks to me you could utilize the storage for lots of kiddo fun stuff. I'm afraid if you turn it vertically you'll be tempted to clutter the walls with things to fill the empty space on either side. Have fun!

switch the mirror with the tv
