Other than if the tree where lacking water. This can be normal for some flowers. I have a very large single flower on one of mine and it has exhibited this also. Some have a lax flower.

Mine did that in our intense Colorado sun. I just added a mid-week watering to my weekly watering schedule. When flowering ended I went back to watering every two weeks...that was about three or four weeks ago.

It was pretty dry last night so I gave it a good watering. This is the newest flower that opened this morning. Maybe they just don't last very long.

Mine now has 4 flowers on it, none of them look ready to drop, they're just laid back.

Would be interesting to see Rob if the bloom will give same result if outside in the summer. If you do this? Not necessarily, but either way it is a very large single flower and really nice.

Thank you both, quite frankly I was surprised at the wonderful coloring and the size of the flowers, considering the size of the plant. Not to mention, I'm so happy to have two Adeniums blooming in the middle of Winter!!

Indeed a treat during the winter. Nice flower, Rob. How old is your adenium? It looks quite young (<1 year).

I'm not sure of the exact age, it was a rare find at a Bonsai nursery, but yeah; pretty young.

Here are a couple of photos from my two. The paler one is about 5 years old and the red one is about 3 years. Unfortunately we had a thunder storm with hail and a couple of the flowers on the red one were damaged. Mine are fed every watering with a potassium only fertilizer. we have two across here in Oz, one liquid and the other a seaweed extract. In both the N and P are around 1%.They are also fed granules which have a N content of around 14% every 3 to 4 weeks.

Tony, They are really nice plants and full of blooms. What do they list the value of "K" in the fertilizer you are using? I have one that I add in conjunction with another fertilizer.

You must have to water a fare amount during you summer months, I would imagine?

Hi Rick,

The value of Potassium in the seaweed extract is 16%. Nitrogen and Phosphorus is less than 1%. I use it because there are no chemicals evolved - it is a natural product. Phosphorus here in Western Australia is regulated to 2% max.

The seaweed extract is added to the watering can as a permanent additive ( make sense) Just a pinch in a 1 1/2 litre watering can.

When the temperature is between 25 to 35 degree C I water every second or third day - if the temp. is low and the soil is slightly damp when you push your finger into it, the DR may only get a sip. In other words water does not run from the drain holes. Over 35 degrees depends on the hot winds etc. it is usually every day - not to much tho. You can over water as you know.

Thanks Tony. Will have to look into a seaweed extract here such as yours. Not seen anything with that value for Potassium, but just not looking in the right places.

The extract is called ECO seaweed and comes in a 100 gram container. Enough to make 200 litres. there is also a liquid form by a different manufacturer. Look up ECO seaweed on Google the people are in New South Wales -

If you email them you will not get an answer until the 27th as it is Australia day tomorrow. The company closed down to give their staff along weekend.

When I rang them some time ago they told me the main ingredients are :- N 1 ; P 1 ; K 16 ; Sulphur 8 : Carbon 25, Plus various trace elements. N & P are +/- normally minus.
