That much info, huh? I guess that's all right. The seeds are already on their way, so I'll grow them and see and hopefully remember to report back at the end of the season. I mix the pastes with whatever else I grow for sauce, so unless they don't produce at all it should be all right. I hope. If all else fails, I'll visit a bad comedy show and make use of them there.

There are just a few comments about it on Baker Creek's site with a couple mentioning that it's a late tomato. I haven't really looked at any other sites so please give updates here on how it does.

The season is over, the garden beds are cleared, and I have a freezer full of tomatoes. So...

The Comstock seeds took forever to germinate. I was convinced I had a bad batch, because while other tomato seeds were up in a few days these took two full weeks to come out. I had given up on them when the first one started to peep through the soil. They caught up fast to the other tomatoes after that point.

The leaves were a much darker green than the other varieties I grew, and had a distinct shape. I should have gotten photos, but about the time I realized how different they were the neighbor sprayed his yard and my entire tomato bed ended up with funky foliage for awhile anyway. They all recovered, thankfully.

Production was very good. I had tons of large plum-shaped tomatoes nearly the size of my hand. I have small hands, but still! They were large enough to use on sandwiches. The fruit itself was meaty and dry and made a good sauce. For taste, I prefer the Opalkas I grew, but I'll probably grow a couple Comstocks again next year. It was a good first run for them.
