The very high end ones are better but still not gas. Induction will simmer and heat very very fast but requires you use correct pots.

The home we bought a couple years ago has a 48" Thermador electric cooktop. I absolutely do intend to replace it with gas at some point. I agree gas is definitely best, but for now this Thermador isn't too bad.
