Narrow space behind sectional sofa?

Need help in figuring out a use for the narrow long space behind our sectional that is about 60 to 64 inches from wall of windows that overlook our park. Pics below show the space (desk and computer were an experiment that didn't work out). We can't move the sectional to the windows b/c it's too far from the TV and fireplace.

- Install window seats even though it's narrow and sofa is in front of it?

- Add bay window so that it's not so narrow?

- Replace windows with full sliders for outdoor living to the deck and leave the space empty?

- Blow it out and just put in a full nook?

- Call it hopeless and replace the sectional?

Either go with french doors or put a sofa table with a nice lamp and some accessories behind the sectional. You could also put a large potted plant near the corner to soften the edges a bit.

Just saw the other picture in the other post. Can you reply to *this* post and attach that other pic, please? It will be helpful for others.

Really, there's nothing wrong with some empty space behind the sectional -- even if you leave windows and don't change to french doors.

What we have done with clients in a simliar situation is install a narrow desk the same length of the sectional, similar to what you have now. We often will place two chairs at the desk since it is usually quite long, that way two people can use it at once. It creates a great office space if your home isn't fit for an individual office, and turns an awkward wasted space into a completely useful area! who doesn't want a place where they can have all their paperwork organized?!

Huge thanks on the feedback! I like the look of the narrow desks with chairs but our 3 busy kids (ages 13, 9 and 3) kept cluttering it up. Maybe I just have to move the computer so they don't sit there anymore :)

Look for some short narrow shelving that spans the length of your sectional and fill it with books, magazines, or anything else you might want to store. You can never have enough storage space, as I can tell from the basket you have down there containing pillows. We built two little twin tables with removable panels for a client in a similar, but narrower situation so they had something to put their speakers on and room to store things in. I'd figure out another place to move your computer and desk. It just doesn't feel right in that spot either.
