I'm missing something. If you used this supremely nasty stuff on all your plants, and you are going to plant food in that self same soil, that should be more worrisome than the purity of a pest spray. It clobbers any connection to organic practices right from the get-go.

But it isn't permanent.

Anything grown in that growing medium would not be considered organic. Whether a spray from the peppers grown in that medium would be organic is questionable at best.

This a bit of a tricky situation :-) Technically speaking, as the spray from the peppers is derived from a naturally sourced (as opposed to a synthesized or manufactured) product - regardless of how it was grown or treated - it is considered an "organic" pesticide. Afterall, we have no assurances that other 'natural' pest controls - those that contain plant extracts like capsaicin, azadirachtin, garlic, rosemary, citrus oil, etc.- are being formulated from certified organically grown plants. Maybe, maybe not.

How you approach this is more of a matter as to your personal philosophy of 'organic gardening'. If you are a hard-line organophile, you may find this unacceptable. But if you are not, the impact of the contaminated peppers is minimal and as long as you stay away from other manufactured/synthesized pesticides, you can in good conscience consider the spray 'organic' in nature. I am guessing you are not a hard-line organophile or the Bonide systemic would never have entered the picture :-)) But get rid of the contaminated soil before you endeavor to grow any other plants/veggies organically.

Personally, I wouldn't think twice about using the spray - NBD!!

Go read the label again. The words you are looking for are: pre-harvest interval

That's the time that must pass between application and harvest of any edible plants.

Here's the label for Bayer's version. If the concentration is the same as yours, the only difference would be that Bayer went through all the tedious paperwork to get the approval for the label.
