I'm amazed and sooo happy for you!!!

I am finding that my nelsonii pollen is still viable after being frozen for the winter. I have several seedpods that are growing and one produced a few seeds!! Nelsonii is truly a wonderful species right up there with papilio!! If Komoriya ever offers them again I will buy another. I actually got mine for a fairly low price which is the only reason I tried it!! So glad I did!!

Hello Beatrice! Do this at least one flower)) to be completely sure of its fertility. Second, I would pollinate the flower than the other to double the chance of getting a seed)) Pollen I also kept and will even work with her.

Here are some of the nelsonii x papilio on the right hand side.

From this year: Fire Blade x nelsonii seeds. Note how fat they are and some of them even looked cracked. I'm floating a few but none have germinated yet, they are very tiny.

Here are Deja Vu (Komoriya) x nelsonii. Not particularly vigirous but still alive.

Now please note that when pollinating with Exotic Star and papilio, I mixed the pollen with nelsonii so I guess there might be a possibility that these are selfs, but I doubt it. It will be easy to tell when and if I can ever get any of these to bloom!

The first cross Nelsonii X Chiquita was 89 seeds but had risen very little. Only two survived.

One seedling greater than the second, and already has a baby. Its leaves are tinged with pink as her father. And he looks like his mother, a fan from leaves and early offset.

Elena, what a beautiful and healthy looking seedling!! I couldn't find a picture of Chiquita though...is it yellow? Is this seedling from this year? I'm amazed at the size of it!!

All you need is one good seedling which is what I got from Santos x Chico; one healthy one with stripes and one smaller with no stripe.

Congratulations!!! When she is fully open I know she will be as lovely as your other flowers were!! Now, you will have more fresh pollen and probably nothing to put it on but it freezes well!

My nelsonii seedlings from the previous year, (Chico, Exotic Star, papilio and Deja Vu) have finally taken off!! I have leaves on one seedling that are a foot tall although your nelsonii x Chiquita has more leaves and looks extremely vigorous; I can't wait to see this one bloom for you!!! This year's crosses are holding their own but are taking their time so as long as I can keep the mealybugs away, they will have a chance!

Good luck with your newest selfed seedlings too!!

I want to show the seedling Nelsonii and Chiquita. This is my disappointment. What were good parents. And as an ordinary child. The only plus - in his blood a lot of interesting, and i can get something hidden takes.

Elena, please don't be too hard with that little child! I think it actually is a precious little flower! It doesn't look spectacular but very delicate, I would be happy with it. Look at those tiny dots! Congratulations! :-)

Please don't be disappointed. This child of yours carries wonderful genes to pass on to future generations. Her subtle coloration seems to have been influenced by papa H. nelsonii whereas her shape appears to be inherited from mama Chiquita. What are your pollination plans?

I think the new bloom is quite pretty. H nelsonii is quite a stunner though, it's hard to live up to that kind of beauty!

Maria, what I was waiting for .... probably red ends on petals and a cleaner throat ... the shape suits me perfectly. I did not have enough color purity)) but the seedling survived only one. I did not have choice .

She's probably not what you were hoping for but another year her flowers may have more vibrant color! It's certainly better than any of my nelsonii crosses, they just get to a certain stage and then stop growing!

Our seedlings can't all be vibrant and beautiful, some of them are just cute. She's cute!!

I definitely think you're not giving yourself enough credit, because I think she's beautiful. I have seen very similar color patterns and shape from Komoriya that sell for a small fortune. But you know...we are our own worst critics :-)))))
