We recently renovated my kitchen and put in a porcelain tile that looks like wood, in a dark color. The style of my house is a split level so the kitchen/dining area butts up against my living room which is on the light side and needs to be refinished.

I want to stain it darker and thought should try and match kitchen floor but know that will be impossible. Looking for input on how dark to go in living room so it makes sense with kitchen. The living room gets nice light and will be repainted and completed refurnished, currently is empty. See pics of floor and an overview of room.
