Pattern ideas for floral scraps

Hello all. I'm back to quilting after a long break. We moved houses and it's taken me over a year to set up my sewing/quilting area and organize my stash of fabric.

I have a number of floral scraps that my aunt brought from a resale store she volunteers at. I'm not a big fan of florals but I'd like to make something with this stash for my aunt. I'm looking for pattern suggestions. They are all different sizes - anywhere from 6"x12" to fat quarters or larger.

Thanks everyone for some great ideas. I do have some large scale floral prints from a swap we did on this forum almost 10 years ago. They are so pretty and I'm waiting for that perfect pattern to use them up.

I love watercolor quilts but I'm not sure if I have the range of hues and values for a large one. I can try a small watercolor wall quilt and see how it works.

I love all the other patterns too - sq-in-sq, basket weave and the warm wishes. I was actually thinking of something similar - large easy blocks and goes together past. I love the apple core pattern but I'm not ready for curved piecing at this point but I may try a overall pattern with triangles or tumblers.

Time to draft the patterns and audition the fabrics - the best part of quilting imo.

I'm just a beginner, but my first thoughts are the overall patterns like hexagons or apple core. That's because my Grandmother used a lot of florals. Those fabrics look similar. Almost all of her quilts were overall patterns.

Dresden plate would be nice as well.

As I said, I'm a beginner, so I have no idea if those suggestions are practical.

My suggestions would be a Basket Weave

I think what you might want to consider is to showcase the flowery fabric. There are other methods of getting the Square in a Square that I prefer, but I like this layout.

Love that tutorial and layout, Sharon! I really like how the background white frames the floral blocks. This pattern could be done with smaller floral squares also - it will just take more of them.

Hey, Vasu! Good to hear from you! If you have to buy a few more florals to make this quilt, I'd get some larger floral fabrics to add to the mix. A change in scale is always interesting - like the two large florals on the right side of your photo.

You could also make a Warm Wishes quilt. You would probably need to use some solids in there too. The pattern is available free on-line.

love the florals for the hexagons for grandmothers flower garden pattern. Understand about taking a break and setting up quilting in a new place. I am still in my rental and thought I could make it until we found our next home....NOT broke out the machine and set it up in the living room! Of course I can't find anything but I'm quilting again!!
