do you mean up the wall to the cabinets backsplash, or the 4" tall kind. in any case, neither are done as frequently as they used to be.

Matching a 4" high backsplash and counter is fine. Carrying the countertop material all the way up a wall will be problematic, though. I would look for a contrasting but compatible material for the wall.
