I find most people use them in Florida. I do sprinkle them around but still use the standard orchid fertilizers.

I have a few catts with mottled leaves. I even had one of them virus tested last year. Then I was told that it was probably from something lacking in culture needs. Plants could have gotten too cold/warm or fertilizer was lacking in some element. My worst ever looking plant is an in-bloom psychopsis kalihi alba. I did a pot into a bit larger pot with it just a couple weeks ago. I'll add some of the pellets to this pot and see if the plant might become green again.

Sheila, I remember when you were having trouble with Psychopsis. Good to hear you are trying them again. You'll have to let me know.

I brought three healthy plants from NY when we moved, and all died within the year. So I decided the climate here does not suit them. They seemed to get affected with fungal problems which took them out.

I love the psychopsis blooms. When my plants latest bloom finishes unfurling I'll post a picture.

I use pelleted fertilizer for most of my orchids. Since I summer most of them outside, the pellet fertilizer will release with the rain. I still fertilize with my own watering over the summer. Generally, I try to time the application of the pellet fertilizer to release by the end of summer or early fall. I have to bring my orchids inside around late October or early November. At that time, I decrease fertilizer for the whole collection.
