Windmill palms, dwarf palmettos and needle palms are your best bets. Even they need lots of protection in zone 7.

If you are willing to put up with some cold damage each year then dwarf palmettos and needle palms need no protection. Windmill palms, Cabbage palms, and Jelly palms will do well with burlap and christmas lights if sighted properly.

Yea, I know on most palms there will be damage, and I am okay with with that.

I've fruited sabal minor (mccurtain collection), and grown needle palm successfully in 6B, so you should have no problems with those unprotected.

Wow, nice! I will definitely consider needle palm, and maybe sabal minor, who knows, maybe it will work!

I will also consider jelly/pindo palm, and see what I can do with those.

subtropix, thank you for the recommendations! I do not wish to disclose my exact location, not even my state (I have always been like that), no offense to you. Something I will tell you, our Winter temperatures only rarely enter negative Fahrenheit temperatures, and single digit (positive) temperatures now and again, but not for long, anyhow.

I will definitely think on your suggestions, personally, Windmill Palm is also my favorite palm, probably in light of our colder temperatures. I know that sometimes snow on palms during Winter can keep the plants at a constant 32 degrees Fahrenheit, the temperature of the snow. But, according to your comment, I can assume this is not true with varieties such as Butia Capitata as they do not like excess moisture.... Very interesting.

I am glad to hear of your successes with palms in colder zones, it always makes me happy, especially when I am trying to do something similar :)

As for imitation palms, palm look-a-likes, and those other plants like yucca, sagos, and others, well, I for some reason, am very strongly biased against them, and I just don't like them... So I probably won't be looking into that route for a bit!
