On the third hand, wanting organic foods and letting children play with highly toxic chemicals are two ethics that should conflict with each other. Of course, as a kid, my "chemistry set" was commonly regarded as safe but contained elemental mercury and radium, so I try to err on the side of paranoia...

Probably not much of a concern if this is a one time occurrence. You are exposed to much more in much larger doses of toxins every day you breath the air and drink the water.
