Should I stick with standard height or would counter height work?

counter height is fun if you will be watching TV/sports from the table or if you will use it as social area for the kitchen - instead of an island or bar.

If it will be primarily eating area, I'd go standard height.

Personally, I would choose standard height. Your ceilings are not overly high, it's easier for children and older visitors and you can repurpose the chairs in other spaces if you need to.

Yea when i have people over they tend to sit there and either watch tv or socialize
