My worry about them is that they will date quickly, and refinishing hardwood floors is disruptive enough that you don't want to change colors too often. But if that isn't a consideration that worries you, go for it. They can look great with the right furniture and style of house.

Thank you feeny for your comment

i think it depends on just how gray they are. if they have that wonderful weathered at the beach look, they're timeless and go with just about everything. i think feeny is right . some of the newr more solid grays i've been seeing will seem dated in a few years. the deeper gray color is also more limiting.

HI -- I think grey hardwood is here to stay. I would have no problem living with it myself and it will take on it's own personality over the years .

i should have asked whether you're talking about on-site finished, engineered or what? the 1st will weather and be fine as lefty said. it's the manufactured product that may not prove timeless.

I am considering the prefinished oak not on site finish. The color is more like a grey/brown ...I think the brown will help with warmth. Definitely not a grey that would end p looking like concrete.

@nancydegannes - did you find a color? I had my heart set on grey and then decided to look at grey/brown as well. No luck so far :(
