Our kitchen

Having a really time deciding on a paint colour in our kitchen. The cupboards are wood, floors and ceiling are wood. There are large windows in the room but the room appears very dark. I find light paint colours wash out the wood but worried that a dark colour will even make the kitchen darker than it already is. Also have to be careful as the kitchen opens into our living room. It is currently painted a cinnamon colour with a yellow beige accent wall. Please help!

If you went with a darker stain color on the floor, painted the cabinets white, and darker countertops would really make the space have nice contrast.

First thing that occurs to me is to get lighter drapes in the dining room, where you also have a heavy, dark table and a light fixture over the kitchen island that will throw off more light. It's not clear how the space between these two areas is lit either.

There isn't enough wall area in the kitchen that painting it is going to make that much of a difference. I think the cinnamon helps pull all that wood together.

If this was my space I would paint the ceiling in between the beams white and the walls a really pale gray/ green some under cabinet LED lighting and add a light table runner with a great glass center piece to lighten up the DR
