Yes , white cabinets would look good, but should be done professionally . If the kitchen is spacious, and is well lit, then you could have them stained dark.

Thank you for your comments. Kitchen is small and I just don't want dark cabs. My other furniture is dark. Looking for a bright, cheerful space.

Then white would be the best option. Post some before and after pics after you r done.

Painting cabinets is one of the most budget friendly way to give your space a new look. When painting kitchen cabinets especially, the most important and time consuming step is the prep. Wash cabinets well with a professional degreaser (Benjamin Moore makes an oil and grease emulsifier) or hot water and ammonia. You want to remove any cooking grease, dirt or other surface contaminants. After a thorough wash, sand lightly to help your new paint adhere better. Even though most paints on the market these days are self priming, we always recommend a primer. We love Insl-x Stix for hard to paint surfaces. Then follow with two coats of white paint. Remember that oil based paints will turn yellow with age quickly so try a water based enamel like Muralo's Ultra Waterbourne. A semigloss finish will have a pleasing sheen without being too reflective. If you have a little room in your budget get new hardware. It will make a huge difference. You might also want to consider removing some of the cabinet doors for a more open look and putting your glassware on display.
