Also - would you run the backsplash under the window to the left of the sink, or do the back wall only? If so - would you stop at counter top or run to the end of the window trim?

I can't tell whether those are ginormous tiles (like 12x24 or something) or regular subway size (3x6). I think a 1/2 or 1/3 offset is the most natural look, but if you want to stick with a very modern style, you could line up all the grout lines. Lessee if I can dig up an example.

I would not tile the left wall. If you really want to, then I'd do it to the counter edge. Or run a single row of tile along the counter, pretending the window isn't there. :)

Thanks ACM. Yes they are fairly large tiles (8x20). In the second picture you can see them leaning against wall between sink and uppers. Do you think they are too large for the space? I actually prefer to tile only the back wall - a friend suggested I should also tile the side due to how close to the wall my sink was. Thanks for the pics - I was having trouble visualizing the stacked look.

J. Myers I really like the idea of tiling the surround. Would I only do that on the one window then? Just trying to visualize how that might work if the other window is trimmed to match the rest of the house (3 1/2" white trim). Or would I eliminate surround in both windows even though I am not having any backsplash on the left wall? Sorry ....... I am not so good at visualizing - any chance you can direct me to some photos?
