I suggest taking it out of the water and sitting it somewhere that will provide it light (a grow light, calm morning sun, filtered shade, just pleasant light) and plenty of air circulation -- and no dogs or cats or nosy people who might pick I up and drop it, yikes! I had a leaf of, perhaps, a harissii? Some common Tillie. It may have fallen off a bigger plant. I thought it was only compostable, but it seemed to have maybe a little growth on the base, so I put it among other tillies, atop a rock where I could see and spray it daily and carefully (since it was tiny) also soak it from time to time briefly. The little growth took off and now the original leaf is gone and I have two small plants (one inch and about 3/4 inch). Sometimes I'm able to keep tiny pups growing, too. In the wild there must be pups that prematurely detach from mom, and I'm sure they survive even worse conditions than our homes. So give your potential miracle attention, good thoughts, and physical comfort, and it might recover enough to pup. It seems odd maybe, but it has worked for me. And when spring comes, you can increase your collection via online ordering unless you have local sources, which would be cool.

Save the time and get a new one. Tillandsias are notoriously slow coming back from injuries such as this.

Just as a warning to new growers while on the subject of dog's attraction to brom's.

Some dogs find the larger bromeliads attractive also, especially Neoregelias and it seems to be the smell of decomposing debris in the central cup that attracts them.

I have seen occasional plants completely destroyed by a dog while plants in the same area were completely ignored.

This only seems to happen occasionally with some dogs whilst other dogs pay the plants no attention, so if you're new to brom's and have a dog just be aware.
