Don't worry about trendy, go with what you truly love!

what depo says, unless you are getting ready to sell within a couple years. then marble and marble look quartz is where its at this year.

I think style (contemporary? traditional?) desired is an important factor.......here in Palm Springs white quartz with recycled glass chips is popular with the mid-century modern homes. Vertrazzo, Samsung Radianz.......there are a number of manufacturers. With more traditional projects clients still seem to desire natural stone (granites).

How about the backsplash?

Right now, we see the marble look with lots of veining whether that be in engineered quartz or natural stone. Engineered quartz is a great, low maintenance route to go if you have heavy traffic in your kitchen area. However, natural stone is still a beautiful option with every slab being unique. It really depends on your preference! Good Luck!

If you are trying to be "trendy" I would stay away from the 4" backsplash. A lot of our clients go for the full height countertop backsplash or tile to the countertop.

I'm going for a more traditional kitchen.
