Charette Design

I highly recommend Steve Charette as an excellent designer. He did a great job redesigning my kitchen, master bathroom, and second bathroom. He produced perfect diagrams of new layouts. He also helped me choose quartz countertops for the kitchen and bathrooms, new tile for the flooring throughout my condo, and paint for all walls. He even helped me chose new furniture and a wonderful sculpture for my atrium. He is a really nice guy who has become a good friend.

We worked with Steve on a comprehensive, whole-house remodel and are so glad we chose him as our designer. His in-depth design expertise helped us create the new look that we were aiming for -- and we are now living in and enjoying it. Steve helped us choose tile flooring, solid-surfaces for the kitchen and bathrooms, paint color for the walls, carpeting, furniture, lighting fixtures, and accessories -- guiding us through the entire, very long, sometimes daunting (decision-fatigue!) process. Plus, he is really a fun person with a great sense of humor. I would always look forward to our meetings with him because he would brighten up the day!

Steve was recommended by friends who had recently remodeled their kitchen and living room. Our project was much more extensive requiring a down to the studs remodeling of the whole house. Throughout the process Steve was always checking in to go over fine points to make sure all of our visions were being included in the design. He prepared very detailed drawings which we were able to review and also provided them to the contractor. Although there were the standard delays expected with a project of this magnitude, they were never due to Steve not meeting his deadlines. We can recommend Steve without reservation.

Charette Design is outstanding. Steve's breadth of design expertise is extensive. Creative yet realistic. Excellent communicator. Prompt and responsive. Very resourceful with sourcing. Has great relationships in the area and can easily save a person time and even money on their projects. Seasoned working with clients who may have differing viewpoints at times. Understands and knows how to coordinate and add texture resulting in a well thought out and designed home. Would hire again and again.

Steve Charette helped us select the tile for our backsplash and flooring that really made the room pop. His placement of our lighting over the grand island is so dramatic. I couldn't imagine a more elegant countertop.

I recently moved to Southern California and engaged Steve Charette to assist me in remodeling my home. He was able to provide great insight an design ideas to make my visions become reality. Steve provided wonderful and detailed drawings of his design that could be followed by contractors. Steve has developed a great network of trades people that I ended up engaging to do the work.

Steve did a fantastic job with material selection and design our flooring, kitchen counters and with our remodel of the fireplace. We will definitely use him again for future projects.

After purchasing our tired-looking but well-located and spacious Palm Springs condominium we began searching for a designer to help us update the unit. We interviewed several people who we found on the Houzz website before selecting Steve Charette as the person we wanted to work with. In our initial meeting Steve presented us with several ideas about what we could do, almost all of which were eventually incorporated into the final plan. He also arranged for us to see one of his recent projects and speak with the owners, so we were comfortable with our decision right from the beginning. Steve’s design took the condo out of the 1980s, when it had been built, and brought it fully into the 21st century. Without changing the basic floorplan he opened a wall between the kitchen and living areas, and redid the floors with 24” tiles laid on the diagonal, visually expanding the space. He quickly understood our aesthetic, and was able to incorporate it into all of his recommendations. Since we live out of town, one of our requirements was that the designer be responsible for project management. Steve did that job very well. He was at the project on most days that workers were here, and found several errors in the construction before they became big problems. It was Steve who found our contractors, and without exception they did excellent work. He added some great details to the plan, such as interior doors with translucent glass panels, a raised hearth for the fireplace, and an accent wall of glass tile in the powder room. Steve communicated with us every week, and often more frequently when issues came up. He found excellent vendors for everything from light fixtures to garden planters. Steve is not the least expensive designer we interviewed, but his proposal was very complete. He charges for his services by the hour and does not mark-up purchases he makes on client’s behalf, which saved us several thousand on tile, lighting and plumbing fixtures. Overall, we are very happy with the results Steve produced, and would recommend him very highly.

Steve designed a new kitchen, master bedroom and bath for us. He listened to our needs and designed to our style, yet expanded on it to create designs beyond our imaginations. Finding furnishings, countertops, etc was challenging and Steve was exceptionally good at providing good choices. He has strong relationships with vendors in the area and worked hard to make sure we were getting good prices. Steve was adaptable and flexible when we needed him to be. He managed the whole project including the contractor in a professional and respectful manner. We would work with him again.

The finished product that Charette Design is able to produce has kept him busy with the "A" List in Southern California. Not surprisingly, many of his out of town clients leave their home for Steve to direct as the owner's agent, to coordinate minor to major re-do's of their homes, only to come back to a gorgeous finished product. Both inside and out! They missed all the construction and the sometimes the nightmares that can accompany a remodel. Steve's taste in design and ability to source everything from permanent fixtures to interior and exterior furnishings has made him stand out from the norm when it comes to a full service design firm! Steve is an excellent communicator and knows how to get the job done with outstanding results! He finds coordinating services that work well together. I am happy to be one of the sources he relies for product we supply and would be glad to give a reference for Steve Charette!

Steve Charette helped me remodel my Palm Springs mid century modern home. I purchased the property as an investment with the intention to fix it up and flip and hadn't really completed a modern remodel before. I turned to Steve for a number of design concepts, all of which he blew me away with his quick response, ability to help me stay in budget, while delivering a finished product I was extremely happy with. Steve had a great knowledge of auto cad and was able to give 3D renderings to me before the work was completed, which really helped visualize the work to be done. I would highly recommend Steve!
