Norman is made in China and takes about 8 weeks to receive, whereas Hunter Douglas is made in the United States and usually ships in 3 - 4 weeks. The Hunter Douglas costs about 20% more. You can also pay more to have the Norman express shipped, which brings the price closer to the Hunter price. Often, people feel strongly one way or the other about buying American made so that ends the discussion. If not, then are other things to consider, too. This is where you really need to rely on the professional advice of the person who will be installing the shutters. The two companies offer different selections of frames. Your window architecture will determine what frames can be used. And lastly, Norman's warranty is for the life of the shutter with the original purchaser. Hunter Douglas warranty is transferrable to a new homeowner, truly for the life of the shutter.
