Which coffee table?

last month

This is the living room in my new-to-me carriage house apartment. I own the rug, the sofa, the light fixture and the art over the mantelpiece. I was playing around with the rug and sofa yesterday and decided I really love the rug and want a glass coffee table so it won’t be completely covered up. My style would be transitional with an English country leaning I guess. The house is in a horse community so feel like that works as far as the vibe goes. I have a couple of modernish sconces that will be in the adjacent open dining area. I like to mix in a bit of modern to keep things fresh, but also love a traditional nickel as well. The room and trim is getting painted BM Baby Fawn. So pic 1 is the space with some random furniture, rug is not in final position.

Pic 2 is my mood board,

Pic 3 is the traditional coffee table

Pic 4 is the modern option

Or should I just stick with wood in some fashion?

Looks like you changed your mind on a glass table? If not, suggest a style with more weight and interest and your books will work well.

I’m not a fan of your last three tables either (for your room or your mood board).

Suggest something like the one below.

yes, glass top, But with a wooden framework. How about oval or even round?

Paint the window wall, trim and all, a dark rich color from the fireplace stone to tie it all together. BM Chambourd

goes great with BM Baby Fawn

BM Baby Fawn is a nice neutral, but you need to change the temp on the light bulb, it reads very yellow.

I love that table. i am moving from 4000sf to about 1100 so any storage or display will be needed. I have boxes of coffee table books that I actually open and look at so want a shelf at least to put out my favorites. I was also looking at these.

Consider moving the chairs together, facing the window.

You don't necessarily need a glass top on the coffee table, you need legs, and then you get to see the rug from a different angle.

I do like the table with the legs, but where to put books? Maybe I can just do the legs option with a drawer and find somewhere to put a bookcase. I’m not using those chairs, they are just there as they were easy to carry up the stairs lol. I am actually putting a chaise over by the window. I was debating no chair(s) at all on that side as I felt like it was blocking the walking area to the hallway that leads to the beds/bath. I dont think I’d ever have more than 2-3 people as visitors as it’s a guest house at my son’s house.
