Do you have to acclimate Fig trees to outside?

I have never had to do this since my Fig Trees never wake up until I can put them out in March..Then when they bud out or have fruit they are already getting use to the sun as they awaken. In fact, I re potted and root pruned every one of them to keep ahead of the game, here it is two months early!

This year, because our winter is so mild, they are ALL waking up growing fruit and leaves in a sunny cold porch...
I am guessing I will have to stick them in little sun when they finally go outside until they get use to it?

One usually takes figs outdoors that have been in filtered sunlight inside and acclimates them a little at a time by putting them in morning or evening sunlight and watch how they react.

I'm thinking this forum is as dormant as our figs trees...

Figs are a LOT more tolerant to light change than citrus trees. They don't up and drop their leaves like citrus. Sunburn is the only problem I see being concerned with.

Steve , what do you do with yours if they are fruited out and all the leaves have already sprouted? Do you just stick them in full sun once they go out or slowly acclimate them?

I have a wall on the north side of my house that gets sun in the morning. As the sun approaches summer solstice the amount of sun increases. When my figs are getting light up to 12 PM I can move them to full sunlight with out risk.

That is what I will do. I actually have a side of my house that gets morning sun. Then to for those that do not get the morning sun I suppose I could stick a huge cut bug screen layed over them for two weeks to diminish the strentgh of the sun until they get use to it. Thanks
