In many cases depends on the door and the manufacturer, the fake hardware (decorative hinges) come with a magnetic strip and they get attached to the door after garage door installation is completed and this hinges can be removed at any time. Depends how much extra they want for them, usually they not that expensive.

I would do No hardware

I think it really depends on your style of home and the look of the garage. If you have a busy roof, lots of wood detailing on the doors themselves and want the coach lights (I assume) to stand out, plain doors are a good choice.

A slightly more quaint look is achieved with handles, but still doesn't make that much of a difference overall. Maybe a good compromise if you both can't decide.

Then there is also handles and hinges - I think this look was common, but not as much anymore as it tends to take over. If you look at bay garage door photos on Houzz, you'll see more are without them and also viewing the different looks may help you decide (especially if you see doors/homes that are similar to yours).

Follow your instincts..hardware is not necessary..however ...in some cases when a garage door is a prominent feature from the curb...and the home has no distinctive details..a special door with extra trim is a good thing
