It looks like some folks want your bathroom look. ????? How about replacing fixtures with new white modern ones and finding a great shower curtain.

Is there any aspect of the bathroom you like? Good light, nice space? Are the fixtures really light yellow-green?

Is your budget enough for new paint, small rugs, or new lighting?

What is it you don't like? Too much yellow? I like the tiles. They look like the Mexican tiles that are so in style right now. Maybe you could try adding some dark blue accessories. I would put down some dark blue rugs, maybe put up a rod in front of the shower and a dark blue curtain. Just my humble opinion.

Consider painting over the tiles.

Hopefully the shower door can be removed and there isn't damage to the tile where it attaches to the wall. Installing a shower curtain will make a big difference here. I'd shoot for a solid color that's the same background shade as your tile. I think it's a cream color. I wouldn't do solid white or it may make the tile dirty looking.

I like the tile and the fixtures also, so unique and fun! Changing out the shower door to a pretty curtain and adding some dark blue towels as suggested above will work wonders. Is the floor in good shape? If not, you might consider a lower cost replacement in a creamier color.

Are those really tiles, or is it wallpaper? If they are tiles, I think they are kind of cool. If you cannot stand the sight of them, I think there is a technique where you can actually paint over the tile. Maybe that would be a solution until you can afford to do more later down the road. I think if you remove the shower door and find a curtain as suggested above that would help with the dated look. Gray and yellow look really nice together if you decide to try and paint the tile. Just an idea.

quickest and cheapest is painting the tiles,you will still see the pattern but at least the color will be something you could live with untill you can redo the bathroom,i would paint it bleu/teal

keep those tiles! Who else has them. We had one of those folding bathtub doors in our recently purchased mid-century home. What a hoot. We could not even donate it to Habitate for Humanity Restore...they would not accept it.

Instructions on how to paint over tile!!! You could have light gray or medium gray walls with the yellow toilets and sink! Get a yellow and gray shower curtain, put up a beautiful wall mirror above sink and you have a new bath on the cheap!!!

Use a 1-to-1 solution of household ammonia and water to clean the tile and grout in the area you wish to paint. You should follow this treatment with a tile and grout cleaner to remove any excess grout from the tiled surface.

Rinse the tiled surface thoroughly to remove any excess cleaner and allow it to air dry before proceeding.

They are real tiles. I like the idea of navy for accent. When you enter to the bathroom you get shocked for all the sunflowers and orange. What kind of paint do you use for tiles???

The tiles could be fun if you could update them by changing the rest of the bathroom but since you don't have the budget......Paint the tiles white and add a thick cotton white shower curtain (no need to remove the doors) and play with the yellow of the toilet and the bath for accessories (carpet, painting). Bidets are horrible.....install a distressed wooden shelf over it at same height as the sink and hide the bidet with a fun patterned curtain (hung from the shelf). Can't see the mirror above the sink but add a funky one and a basket on the floor for some big white fluffy towels!

RE: Removing the shower door, we did that in our fully tiled bathroom. I was sure there would be damage from it, but there were only two tiny little holes that we reused to hang the shower curtain rod, plus a mastic line along the top of the tub that was easily cleaned off. Good luck!

The happy yellow flowered tiles go right through the shower surround, too.

Try wallpapering up to the shower door edge with a plain white textured paper designed to be painted. Paint with white or pale yellow paint.

Buy a beige shower curtain or navy curtain that won't make the floor tiles look old and grimy. Pick the background color from the happy flowered tiles.

You can perhaps clean the shower doors up with 0000 steel wool and elbow grease. If they're hopeless, replace them with a curved shower rod.

You can make the bathroom feel much more luxurious with a great new showerhead and some thick new towels.

Although I don't usually recommend bath carpet, there's a time and a place for it, and this might be one of those. It has a latex back. Try it in navy.

Try the navy rugs, shower curtain and towels first before you paint those expensive tiles. You might be a lot happier with the bathroom with navy to balance the yellow.

I think you should replace the toilet and sink with a more modern white color. I think you should take off that back splash and paint the walls instead.

You can paint the tile, I've seen it done and it looks ok. Not great but ok. Of course it could have been the skill of the painter. If you decide to keep the tile my suggestion would be to make everything else neutral. I would definately remove the shower door, people do this all the time and it should look fine. I would remove the bidet. This will create a problem with the flooring but it would leave you room for a simple cabinet under the sink. If money is tight a cabinet can be picked up at Habitat for Humanity/Craigsllist and can be painted if necessary. This will give you some storage and cover some of the tile. I would replace toilet, you can get a new one for less than $100. If you put up a longer shower curtain (neutral beige, like in the tile) it will cover up your coloured tub until you can afford to replace it. Also, we recently replace our bathroom floor with some vinyl tiles (peel an stick) that looks like hardwood, was inexpensive and can be mounted over anything. You might want to go to some flooring stores and see what they have. Good luck.

One more thought-you could add some simple artwork on the tile by using Command strip hooks. No worries about damaging tile and it would break up the mass of tile.

I agree about not painting the tile! And unless you use the bidet, I would build something over it. Maybe even a tall skinny shelving unit painted the same blue as in the tile. That would break up your line of sight with all the pattern and give you some much needed storage.. Remove or at least try to hide the shower door with a curtain.I've seen painted tiles - they look fine for a while but then oh what a mess when it starts to peel! With all the humidity in the bathroom I wouldn't even try.

Some of you tell me to eliminate the bidet. I will consider this option. Mabey put a navy cabinet or something. Will go this evening to homegoods and share with you my options.

I say take off the shower door, and I agree, Navy is the way to go for accent pieces. Please post finished product!! Can't wait to see your creativity.

Do you like to have the bidet, if so, feel free to keep it. We Americans truly do not understand these things. A cabinet over it to add storage would be neat if you do not like the bidet yourself, yet will let it stay in case another person in the future may like it.

1. Take out old shower door. Clean old area w CLR.

2. Demo tile outside of shower surround over tub. No matter how 'cute' anyone thinks this tile is, there is too much, it is too busy for a small room.

Cover bath walls to tile line in beadboard - comes in 4 x 8 panels. Glue and finish nail primed mdf panels over wall to the 6' mark with a 2 x 6 flat trim at the top / paint it pale butter yellow in glossy finish. Paint upper wall and ceiling fresh cloud white. Add silver robe hooks all along the flat trim at 10" intervals. Add white shower curtain with navy trim.
Paint cabinet navy with new silver knob.

Review quantity of tile and diy info on net re: tiling. You can do this.
3. Set aside $ to purchase new tile and supplies for tub area, demo tile and replace with white tiles of same size.

4. Keep bidet and use until you have $ for new toilet and sink and plumber. Then, buy a new wider cabinet for more counter top space and have plumber remove and cap.

Since you do not have the money to work on this, I suggest a solid white shower curtain and plain brown rugs to help calm down the very vibrant walls tiles....

If it was my bathroom I wouldn't do any demo. I'd beadboard the walls outside the tub up to shower door height. Take out shower door, replace with cute solid color shower curtain and sticky tile the floor. Cheap and quick change on a budget!
