I think that arrangement looks okay, but I would remove the framed photos from the dresser top, which is just too much of the same, and replace it with a small green plant. Then you could switch the upper right frame with the lower left frame which would be more balanced.

I see what you're saying. I will try to find something to fill the space and move the larger framed picture. I'd like to keep the smaller one, though--it's our wedding picture. No plants--we have two beasties who will eat them!!

I agree with Calidesign, do not put pictures on the dresser top. Cut newspaper to size of your pictures and place on wall with painters tape. Play around with them. Look on Potterybarn website for examples of gallery walls...they seem to do them very well.
