With your vertical siding, I like the current horizontal design you have right now. The new vertical design you are considering might fight against the siding, although I like the glass inserts.

I love mid century, but I think the exterior of my house just isn't ( I think it's a stretch..) so I'm trying to go with something modern, clean that will compliment the front door and the architecture ( as plain as it is) of this house.

I've never been a big believer in styled garage doors, with a few exceptions.

I'd love to see you keep a simple garage door (flush panels, simple), and let the entry and the home say welcome to humans, not cars. Maybe something like this:

It's a lot like your second photo, sans windows. Do you need windows, or do you have windows elsewhere in the garage?

I hear u 100%. I'm not big on look-at-me garage doors.
I believe, as you, that the cars's storage is not what we should focus on..
My first choice was actually a flush door, same color as the siding, sans :) windows.
What sent me in a more decorated direction is the fact that the exterior of the house is a bit aged, and since we won't be redoing siding, I wanted to take this chance to make it look as fresh as possible...I had worried that a flush door would put too much focus on the aged siding and the aged windows.. But you reminded me of my first choice, and it might just be the best choice. Thank you.
