Are your dishes still dripping wet, or just not fully dry after the load is done? If so, that due to the ineffective drying you get with the energy savings ratings. The "energy savings" comes by letting your dishes finish air drying overnight.

Alternately, when I got my Kitchenaid DW in 2011, the rinse aid dispenser was not working. My dishes were still dripping wet after the load ran. The serviceman who came the first time did not correctly diagnose it; they sent him back again the second time. Finally I called a reliable appliance repair service (at my own expense), and they correctly diagnosed and replaced the rinse aid dispenser. I was underwhelmed by Kitchenaid's warranty service, and I long for the days when I could actually unload my dishes after a completed load, rather than waiting 6 or more hours to let the trapped heat finish the job. Such is "progress."

They are dripping wet. Might as well stop the cycle and save electricity! it's crazy that I can't empty it right after cycle finishes! The manual says the "dry heat" cycle gives you the "driest dishes of all dishwashers". Could something not be working correctly?

Laura, I'd call for a warranty service call, and ask the repairman about the rinse aid dispenser. After mine was replaced, it functioned much better, but still not like the 1998 GE dishwasher it replaced. Among my friends with newer dishwashers, it seems letting the dishes sit for many hours is the only alternative to using a dish towel to finish the drying. Energy savings requirements seems to reduce effectiveness.

Are there a lot of plastic items being cleaned? Plastics will reduce drying effectiveness greatly because of their heat retention (or lack there of).

Called KitchenAid/Whirlpool and they seemed to think maybe it's the heating element. I'll let you know what the say on the 13th!

Fisher and Paykel DD605 shows the no tap error icon 2-3 times during the wash cycle. I can resume the wash by pressing the Start/Pause button. This only happens to the top drawer, the bottom drawer works fine. Any ideas?

Are you able to adjust the amount of rinse agent? Sounds like you might need a little higher dose at the end of the cycle.
