Hi Tom,

Perhaps the fact that you are only showing one bloom on Gervase and the rest of your bulbs have 3 to 5 flowers is making your Gervase appear insignificant size wise compared to the others.

Your bulbs all appear to be very healthy.

I found this photo taken a few years ago and mine also appears a little on the small side but Minerva might be a bit larger and Cherry Nymph tends to be a large flowers also.

Kristi, Thanks for posting that link! It was wonderful to go through all those old posts and see all the gorgeous pictures of Gervase. What surprised me the most was that this time my pictures had't been deleted, they were all still there!!! Donna☺☺☺

Tom, according to my records, my Gervase flowers last year were 15-16 cm wide at the widest point, and 18 cm from top to bottom. In the previous year, when the bulb was new and the flowers did not open so fully, I recorded width of 10 cm and height of 13.

Wow! I love gervase. So pretty. I love the pics. I never got around to measuring my flowers. I'll have to wait until the second scape blooms.

Oh I just thought of something else. Donna, in your pic, the gervase flower is actually facing horizontally outward and the flower petals actually open all the way. Mine never bend down that far and by the time the petals were fully open, it was already starting to wilt. Any ideas why? Maybe that's just how gervase is? Some varieties seem to last for weeks and some are a 2 day show.

Tom, My only guess would be that is that perhaps your bulb was new and hadn't yet rooted? I find that the flowers on new, not rooted bulbs are not up to par with flowers that bloom from an older well established bulb. I think the next time you will have your flowers a bit longer and they will open more to your liking. Donna☺☺

Gervase is one of my all-time favorites. I love that every bloom has a differing level of variation of the colors... each is quite unique! Unfortunately, I think my Gervase bulbs died (a hard freeze killed them).
