Is it too much or too little mist?

I have found cool mist humidifiers to be completely useless. I honestly don't know the point unless you live in the desert and are trying to grow cloud orchids. We have 6 humidifiers in our home - one of which is for my sunroom where the orchids grow. I use it on high everyday Nov-April. They each last me 3+ years. I tried cool mist humidifiers when my kids were babies and found they didn't raise the humidity level in their bedrooms (which were smaller at the time than my current sunroom) by more than 10% regardless of how high it was set. Warm mist also raises the ambient temp which I find helpful for my conditions, but YMMV.

Too little. The warm mist humidifier that I'm talking about is very similar to the one you have but it's a Honneywell with no filter. The problem I have with it is I can hardly see the mist coming out of it and when I hold my hand about 5 feet above it I don't feel anything in suppose to the cool mist one that is in my kids room it generates a lot of white mist. The reason I bought a warm mist humidifier is exactly what you mentioned about raising the temperature in that area but again with the amount of mist that is generating I'm not sure if it's even doing that.

Another question how many hours a day do you have it on from Nov - Apr?

The Vicks humidifier I linked above is the only one I've found to put out a decent amount of steam. Other brands and even other Vicks humidifiers haven't worked well.

I run 1 full tank on high every morning and it lasts about 12 hours.

Just wondering, what sort of a humidity level are you aiming at? Do you have a humidity measuring gadget?

Last time I measured it was in low to mid 40s which can be argued it is still in acceptable range for some orchids but I see the difference in watering and overall health between the orchids that are in the room in suppose to the ones I have in a small pop up indoor greenhouse with same type of pots, media and watering habits. The ones by the windows get a ton of more light in compare to the indoor greenhouse (CFL and Florescent light) so my goal is to bump up the humidity on them at least for winter and hopefully get better results in winters.
