Increase canna seed germination - Cuisinart Method

If you collected seeds from your cannas you know that they are really hard and you need to nick them or scratch the hard coating to help them germinate. This will sound weird, but it was very successful for our garden....... take them for a short spin in your food processor! Will make a terrific racket but it will results in almost 100% germination and no cut fingers. You don't want to pulverize the seeds - just a few seconds and then check the seeds. I would plant them directly into wet medium - or soil and keep moist till they start to show leaves and then pot them up. A heat mat or lights will also speed up the process but it is not necessary. You can start them in moist paper towels or soak them in water if you want to watch the germination process. I call it the Cuisinart seed starting method! lol
