Well, I'm a senior too. I have always had access to a variety of tools from my father and then my own collection from stores, garage sales and auctions. With chicken wire, I just use whatever comes to hand. The wire is thin and almost anything will cut it. I find that what we used to call 'tin shears' are a very good choice because they cut like a regular pair of scissors so that you don't stop at each wire. However, I suspect that one could also use these cheap 'utility scissors' with the short offset serrated blade and big stubby handles. They can sell for well under $10.

"Tin shears" that are like scissors is exactly what I' d like. I have those "utility scissors" and love them but I'd rather like to cut cut cut without having to go in and out of the sections as you mentioned.

Good to know what you were looking for. However, I may have over sold the tin shears. Yes, you can cut straight through with them but the blades are much stronger than scissors, and shorter too. They are probably the same length as the utility scissors mentioned above and therefore take a similar number of strokes, but you don't have to remove or reset either tool as you move along.
