Kitchen Counter tops

Help! We are remodeling our our NW 70's home (new windows, floors, appliances). The current cabinets are fairly new. See photo. Throughout the house we are using white millwork. I want to replace the counters with quartz, and have my eye on the new "Copper Mist" from Silestone/Constantino. It is a medium gray with flecks of copper - beautiful. However, should we use a white quartz or marble/granite instead? And backsplash design?

Go for quartz, you don't have to refinish it like granite. Sounds like a beautiful colour, Can you download a photo?

Also, for the backsplash, wait until you have the counter installed and then bring home samples of the tile you like. It's amazing how different tile can look depending on what its surroundings are.

Would love to see the quartz you are speaking of. With maple cabinets a darker countertop looks best, imo. Since your floor is similar in color to your cabinets you need to break that up. But before you decide on the counters, hunt around for backspaces. Don't buy any, but see if something really speaks to you, it may help you decide on the exact color or countertop.

I would definitely go for Quartz and for backsplash I would look for and black or white tile. Love the cabinets!

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions and comments. Here is a picture of the quartz. It is a new offering by Silestone/Constantino. There is some movement in it, and fairly earthy, which definitely appeals to us. It is dark, but not black. I took this pic against my current maple floors. You can also check it out on the Silestone web site. I haven't seen samples in many stores, but I know Lowe's is now carrying it.

Since you really LOVE it, def use it! At first I thought there was no connection between your cabinets and floor and the counter if it were gray but now that I see all the browns in the silestone, the connection with the cabinets is there.

When you select your back splash, make sure you pick something which connects the counters to your cabinets - colors need to really coordinate.

    Please show us tile samples!

Did you ever get Copper Mist Silestone? My counters are being measured tomorrow and I can't wait to see my Copper Mist installed! I saw the slab and it's gorgeous.

The coppermist quartz will be installed in a month. I did see it installed in a showroom in Seattle and it isn't as dark as it appears in a small sample, and is more bluish gray with "hairs" of copper throughout. Not a tight pattern, more like granite with variations throughout, but beautiful. I am doing a Bedrodisns wave Luna backsplash, since this is a beach house. it looks like sand and pulls in the gold colors of the quartz and cabinets without being too busy. Also applying updated square knobs in brushed nickel to match quartz. Will upload a pic when complete. It has been a long process, hope all works as planned!

Just had Copper Mist Silestone installed 2 days ago. Am loving the look with new honey wheat maple cabinets and gunmetal gray knobs.

I'm all set for flooring but need ideas for subtle backsplash? Thanks for ideas. Judy

I hope you are leaning toward a gray which mimics the shade of the counters?

As far as back splash tile: do you want colorful or monochromatic? what style do you lean toward? What colors and style is going on in adjacent rooms?

I have white cabinets and cream tile floor and was wondering how the copper mist would look with it. Also what backsplash would i use?

I also chose copper mist for my kitchen remodel and am looking for ideas for floor color. My cabinets are light oak. I was thinking of a slate floor (happy floors eternity black, which is a combination of medium and dark greys). I also need a black splash. Any opinion would be appreciated.

I am getting copper mist installed onto linen cabinets. I am having a heck of a time decided on wall paint. Tan or gray? Our floors will be oak planks that have grays, browns .

I use the same material for counter and backsplash up to the upper cabinets. I also do the same material for the wall above two 30” side-by-side gas ranges. I prefer polished granite in a not-so- busy color combination....currently I have granite with veins of green, gray, some tan, and some white.
