There are a lot of mislabeled Ice Cream banana plants around. Most wind up being Namwah. Stokes Tropicals in New Iberia used to sell them but I don't think they do anymore. I grew Ice Cream for several years until it flowered and I realized it wasn't Ice Cream but Namwah. To answer your question though, true Ice Cream should survive in zone 9. I think Breaux Bridge is in zone 9 but you might be zone 8. Whether you get it to fruit or not is another question since most bananas need 10 to 16 months to grow, fruit and ripen. There are other varieties that are more cold hardy that would give you a better chance for fruit.
