Go for it! Just like a walk with God, it's a walk...a process. So many Biblical examples and stories come from plants, too. You have to have well-established roots to be a strong Christian. Let us know how you do. Are you wintersowing any of your veggies?

We converted to the BTE about four years ago and are having the most amazing production ever. Most people are against it because it is free, simple, not chemical dependent, and is not complicated. The "Natural Man" is totally disconnected from this simple natural way of gardening because the is no money involved for the big GMO and chemical companies. They don't want you to have a better healthy garden, they want your poisonous money. Very destructive and so sad!

As the first year it wasn't the best. We built 5 beds and halfway through the year we realized one of the beds was to shady. Built one for ever bearing strawberries ( doing well ), the next was for potatoes ( the red and white potatoes just didn't make it. The sweet potatoes took over. Waiting to harvest ). Peas and green beans did great. Onions are slow. Maye next year will be better.

Next year will be better Hal. How are you going to treat your beds for over wintering? All I do is add about 3 more inches of aged wood chips, sprinkle some Starbucks coffee grounds on top, and top with a light layer of compost and I'm done. Adding a thin layer of chopped fallen leaves if always a good thing as well. I am fortunate to have access to some well composted ramial wood chips so my start up a few years back was pretty good. It is just fine to use some fertilizer early on if need to while the beds get better established. Good luck and keep us posted.

Just harvested the sweet potatoes, probably have 5 lbs.. Not a lot but that's ok, the soil is so light and fluffy. Planted some garlic, 10 cloves. We have a compost pile we feed scraps to every 2-3 days so that will be added to the beds in early spring. we'll keep plugging away.

Hal, how is your BTE soil looking like? What have you done to amend it for winter?

So far I have just been adding compost across the top layer. Soil is lite and fluffy, love it.

Which bed contains the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,and where does the serpent hang out?Are the fig leaves large enough for your needs?

Actually, I never have heard about back to Eden gardening,but I have been living it all my life.

Hit submit accidentally. I do have communion with Him in the garden and the flow of awareness and knowledge is very strong.Smoking some God given herb also can magnify the experience and calm the mind to hear His voice.My idea of Eden is all native plants growing where they were meant to grow,feeding and nurishing all the native wildlife they were intended to.This is the perfect rain forest, whether in the Midwest or Southeast, it's the perfect rainforest.Man has made a mess of the natural order of things.Tried to recreate the world in his image.If you were to visit a tropical rainforest you wouldn't want to see it filled with a bunch of alien species from other parts of the world.You would want it to be pristine,untouched, the way God intended.So why not take the same approach to our own yards.You will have a clean heart which will make you more open to hearing His voice.His life flows through all living things and you can feel it also inside all the beautiful plants if you really desire to.The insects,the birds,all this life in the garden connected,wow, how amazing!

The garden was altered this early spring, had 5 beds with about 2' of walking area between. now the walking areas have been filled so now it's just one bed. it's like doubling the size. The weather has been very good this spring, strawberries exploded and bearing fruit. Placed a frame over them with bird netting to help. Onions, dill, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, peas, rosemary, 32 Roma's, lettuce, only 2 zucchini's ( they take up some space ), kale, basil, chives, and some red beans the squirrels have planted. They try, we didn't have red beans but one day a bunch of them were scattered in spots. So I gave them a trellis to climb up. Other than the strawberries and red beans all else were started in the greenhouse. And we have a beautiful day of gentle rain today. Best time to pull weeds.

Hal, how is the BTE garden doing. Our normal average rainfall is about 42 inches and we are already around 35 inches of rain. The BTE garden is handing it just fine with no negative impact of root rot or any other issues. Happy gardener here.

In my part of the world, the growing season is gone and we have had a few killing frosts. About half of the leaves have fallen from the trees. I put about 3-4 inches of ramial woods chips down last week and spread a thin layer of spent coffee grounds on top. Will add a thin layer of finished compost on top this coming week to finish the garden in preparation for spring planting. The garlic was put in just before the wood chips went on so they are nestled in their winter growing space. Hope all is well with all of you and your gardening.

well sadly to say we are thinking of moving this year so as part of the yard clean up we pulled the BTE garden growing media to a pile near the pond to use as fill when the pond comes out. The only part still in use is the area for the Strawberries, love the Strawberries.
