I have grown OTV several times and always been pleased with its performance. Pleasing size and flavor and better production than Brandywine Sudduth's for me. I'd agree with Carolyn's comment stressing that she says "tolerance" not "resistance" as many use those terms interchangeably. Should do well for you given the ideal conditions you have created in your GH. Hope you like it.

Dave - I am growing both OTV and Suddeth strains of Brandywine this year so it will be fun to compare the two! Carolyn mentions in her book that OTV is known in the southern area to set fruit better than Brandywine Pink at higher temperatures. I hope that doesn't mean that OTV will not set fruit as well in colder temperatures! Cold not hot temperatures are the problem in Wyoming! Guess I will find out.

Hudson--for what its worth--I used to follow Carolyn and Craig and I tried OTV a couple times with no success but in this part of the country we can't grow everything everybody else does. I believe it will do well in your GHOST that's why I'm glad you turned me onto BB

I've grown OTV for several years in CT. Now have one started in Fla. Of the ones I have started, it is the furthest along. I agree with all the favorable comments above. Has anyone heard from Carolyn lately?

i've grown otv in texas it didnt do well for me at all mealy and no flavor.but maybe i didnt start it soon enough

I grew OTV several times when I lived in KY and it was fabulous for taste and medium for production. I grew the Sudduth strain a few times as well and felt it was just as fabulous in taste but kinda stingy on production. Worth a try, in any case. Sometimes I wish there weren't so many varieties to try because I want to be greedy and while I could have the space to grow many, my back won't allow for a garden that big. Good luck, you will enjoy them!
