Have added white bead board in kitchen. Window trim is stained.

I have a small 1950s house with beautiful mahogany woodwork in the entire house. I've had white bead board installed in the dining area of the kitchen. Some friends tell me that I need to paint the window trim white. The backdoor, basement door, and a bedroom door are adjacent to the dining area of the kitchen. These doors and trim are stained and will remain so. Paint or stain?

Keep the stained trim. Change the friends to ones that appreciate the integrity of original details.

Stain, as Sophie says. But don't change your friends - just educate them with your good taste:)
