Hosta Category 2015

I still have a few jokes left so the day after Z I will be starting with these categories:

Blues
Giants
Golds
Medium
Mimis
Red Petioles
Ruffled
Small
Upright

After this I am headed out to the yard. If you have any suggestions of any groups I missed let me know.

I always like to add a photo.

I love your jokes, lovetogrow. Good categories... My only suggestion would be something about scapes... I'm a sucker for "orderly scapes" (as I call them)- the ones that stand up straight and neat. I also like the pretty or interesting ones like Manhattan- hope I can get one sometime.

I have a thing for round leaves - can't resist them. Could we add that category?

I was going to add what ConnieMay did - round. There is also pointed and draping like Wolverine or flowing like Pineapple Upsidedown Cake.

Paula, that is such a pretty photo...the caladiums are gorgeous and that colour palette is gorgeous with hostas, IMO.

How about one for your favorite companion plants?

Great....keeps us off the streets and out of trouble 'til spring!

I'm with you, Mbug! I'm counting the days towards mid-March when the greenhouses start stocking their bulbs and bareroot hostas!

I am excited to see what I will find there - and if I don't find a new hosta or two, well, then I'll have to buy duplicates - just to be able to start "gardening" indoors.! I'm on my third year of this exercise and it really gets me in the spirit, a jump-start for the season, lol. Yay!!!

Wow. I was thinking that poor Paula is probably happy that the Hosta Alphabet is almost completed because it was a lot of work. But now you want to add more categories! Way to go. I'm happy about that!

One of my favorite jokes in your Hosta Alphabet is the one where if you want to see your family, just turn off the router! How true! In my area we can have a lot of power outages. My family comes out of the woodwork then and they haven't got a clue as to what to do with themselves! LOL

Suggestion for categories: flowers--buds and open.

    Hi Paula,

Didn't you have a Fragrant category one year? I'm always anxious to see those since hosta plantaginea is supposed to grow well in my warm climate - and in your warm climate, too, maybe? Hope I got that name right. Could be a good chance to learn & to add to my wish list. Love your jokes & the alphabet.

Thank you for all your complements and I am happy you have been enjoying the jokes. OK added categories are:

    Shapes 1: round and piecrust

    Shapes 2: pointed and twisted

Flower and Scapes from start to finish

    Fragrants

    Companions

After that it will time for me to get outside.
