Kitchen counter top.

Here's my dilemma. Renovating my kitchen. Narrowed down to dark hard wood floors. Torn between white or dark cabinets but my biggest dilemma is counter top. I love the look of marble but so afraid of it chipping or staining (I admit I'm not always home to keep kitchen clean). Or should I just go with a Quartz or granite. Also want white subway tile backsplash. Also will have a @5'x3' island in the center of the kitchen with seating.

Go for a white marble countertop. You're better off getting what you truly want, then settling! Also, I often find that we end up taking better care of those things we value. Your remodel should look great!

Buy a hand size piece of white marble. Put a dollop of red wine, mustard, olive oil, and some lemon juice on it for a few hours. Clean. Then decide if you like the look.

There is porcelain that looks like marble and you won't have the problems that real marble has.
