Bathroom reveal

So I never posted to ask for help - just used the forums to help me plan out a remodel for our master bathroom. Thought I'd share the final result! Hopefully i posted photos correctly! I we had a master bath that was open to our bedroom and was carpeted. We also had no storage above counter height. We added a barn door to separate the rooms, installed tile, a cabinet between the sinks that sits on the quartz counters and installed outlets in the counter cabinets so I can keep my flat iron, toothbrush & blow dryer plugged in & hidden at all times. We also removed the soffits & raised the light fixtures (the only thing we reused).

A few details I liked... the "foot shelf" we put in.

Timer switches for our exhaust fans that I liked so much - I had our contractor install in the other bathrooms as well.

Thanks everyone! Traci_from_seattle - the credit for the beautiful green goes to my husband. I was thinking blue & so we put up both colors on the wall & lived with them for a bit... he totally won that one! (Normally I win all design arguments!)

And yes - the barn door is wonderful. We had no bathroom privacy before & with 2 daughter (9 & 11) that meant my hubs had to lock our bedroom door in order to take a shower. That door alone made the project worth it.

Also - I forgot to mention - we did an extra tall frame on the shower door so hubs doesn't have to duck to get into the shower - it's the little things in life... ;)

Your new bathroom is very pretty. You need to be careful about checking reflections in the mirror though. ;)

Iowacommute - yes. ;) I wasn't really thinking about my "before" pictures as something I'd need to share - you all got a shot of my daughter inspecting my photography work. I'm doing a kitchen remodel now & will make sure I take before photos "sans kids". ;)

@gwyndill - I know it’s been awhile - but your reno looks great! I do have a question for you - do you still like your barn door? When I built my house, initially the plans didn’t have a door on the bathroom. I added small double doors because I didn’t understand why anyone would want the bathroom completely open to the master bedroom. I am now renovating the bathroom - and have decided to remove the double doors. I want to replace them with a pocket door - my SO wants a barn door. While I like how barn doors look, I’m not sure if they function well. It seems like it wouldn’t block noise at all - and might be drafty? Idk. I do really like how they look - and since I’m really making most of the decisions for the renovation, I’d like to let him have the barn door if I can. Would you put one in again if you were redoing your bathroom?

@dani_m08 - I really would do it again. BUT you are correct. It doesn't really block the sound. However it provides privacy & it blocks the light. The light was more of an issue for me than the sound. The toilet room has a separate door that locks - so we have a sound barrier there and I don't mind hearing the shower running. I really love the barn door. You can get locks for them too, but we just never did. Our kids were old enough to know not to go opening closed bathroom doors. ;)
