I have a banquette in my kitchen that I'm getting rid of, but I would suggest a seat cushion and some accent pillows for color.

Your hubby did a great job. I'd do seat cushions. Since it is a custom piece you may need to get them made (unless your hubby sews too). Fabric stores can usually recommend someone. I also think those placemats are too big for surface. Would round fit better? Awesome piece of furniture.

A nice accent piece on that corner - some greenery or a fun ceramic - as well as something on the wall - would also be a good idea.

The obvious is cushions. You'll probably need to have it custom-made but choose a different fabric for the chair cushions to make it more interesting.. And a really big jar of jelly beans on the corner shelf!

I dressed it up a little. I need something on the table and window treatments. Does anyone have any great ideas? Here is what I have tried so far.

I think you need seat cushion in a color and or a print for both the chairs and the benches which your husband did a beautiful job on, by the way! You could coordinate a valance on the windows if privacy is not an issue. Instead of the 3 framed pieces, I think one larger piece of art would look nice. (if keeping the art you have, lower them about 6 inches.) Or a large wall decal of words.

It could be fun and stylish to "dip" the top of the chairs in white! That way the chairs relate to the kitchen cabinets and molding. Then, a touch of white in your cushions/shades to bring it all together.
