Help.... My front yard is lacking EVERYTHING !

Year after year I stand out in the street and try to vision what will make this a home? My front door is hidden in the dark tunnel, I am not fond of the circle around the trees located front right but grass is hard to grow directly under them. Due to my neighborhood having plenty of deer this leaves me limited with plants. I am very drawn to yards done with Xeriscape and Hardscaping. Maybe color could be incorporated into my railing, front door and other painted structures?

I like Xeriscaping as well. It takes less upkeep and water during the dry summer months. You already have a start with the large rocks. The rocks need to be rearranged so they are not piled in one area.

Looks like the area under the trees needs a shade loving plant. Depending on your location of the county you could use hostas or ferns. Both need shady somewhat wet areas to grow in.

Continuing with the Xeriscaping theme you could use landscaping rocks for bedding, native flowering plants, grasses, and succulents.

I also think you need to draw the eye to the front door. One suggestion is moving the walking path as emmarene shows in the comment. Also, adding color to the space directly in front of the porch stoop. Could be plants or a permanent structure.

I don't know what zone you are in so it's difficult to suggest plants, but deer love hostas! I'm on holiday so don't have my list of plants that deer don't like, but you can google it. What kind of trees in the pic? Do you get any sun under them? If they're maples, you need plants that survive in dry shade, perennial geranium, pachysandra, fern, holly, digitalis ....need my list! :)

Not sure what direction your house faces, but maybe try hanging a mirror on one of those walls on either side of your front door? Take one from inside your house and prop up just to see if it might help reflect some light, if it does scour yard sales and flea markets for a cheap large one

Remove/relocate the large rocks in front of the porch. Use a shade tolerant ground cover or mulch around the trees. Plant something to hide the foundation to the left.

Consider adding larger columns, and painting all the porch trim and door white. You want the focus to be on the porch.

Take pictures to a local nursery -- they can help you choose plants.

Thanks for the replies, I live in San Antonio Tx, hot and mostly dry. I like the larger column idea, but would like to get away from the white/red brick look (if possible). There are so many new colors out and would love to get away from anything traditional. Also, would the windows on the left look better framed out? I struggle with the circular shape around the trees, would straighter lines look better?

The walkway looks better straight, I agree with you. Unfortunately I do not see me taking it out. I put the flagstone and sod in last year and its quite settled.
